Data pre-processing: lecture (XCMS) and practical (XCMS in Galaxy)
Trainer: Ibrahim Karaman
Overview: This session introduces the fundamentals of LC–MS data preprocessing, focusing on the nature of chromatographic peaks, how to recognise good and problematic signals, and why preprocessing choices matter for downstream analysis. The lecture covers key concepts behind peak detection, alignment, and feature generation, followed by a practical demonstration of LC–MS preprocessing using XCMS in the Galaxy-based MetaboLights Labs environment. Participants will gain a conceptual understanding of preprocessing together with hands-on experience running a reproducible workflow.
