Overview: This lecture focuses on the intersection of analytical chemistry and bioinformatics in lipidomics. Topics include the chemical complexity of lipids, the challenges of reliable lipid identification, nomenclature, and quantification using mass spectrometry, as well as the tools and resources available for handling, analysing, and integrating lipidomics data. Key obstacles in the field and approaches to addressing them are also discussed.
