Congratulations to Almudena Ponce-Salvatierra, a PhD student from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. Almudena won the Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe) poster prize at the 30th meeting of the European Crystallographic Association (ECM-30) in Basel, Switzerland.
Almudena's poster "Crystal structure of a DNA catalyst" described the first determined structure of a deoxyribozyme, work which was published earlier this year in Nature.
Almudena is pictured here (2nd from the left) receiving the prize, a signed copy of Bernhard Rupp's Biomolecular Crystallography, from Matthew Conroy of PDBe (right) at the conference closing ceremony. Also pictured are Udo Heinemann, vice-president of ECA (left) and Bernhard Springler, head of the Poster Prize committee of ECM-30.
