Small-molecule inhibitor: ZJ-43
Name
- Common name
- ZJ-43
- Other names
- PGI-02776 (prodrug of ZJ-43)
Inhibition
- History
- ZJ-43 is one of a series of glutamate analogues that are inhibitors of glutamate carboxypeptidase II. Being highly polar, the molecule does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, but a di-ester prodrug form showed neuroprotective activity (Feng et al., 2012).
- Peptidases inhibited
- glutamate carboxypeptidase II
- Pharmaceutical relevance
- Analgesic and other activities have been reported (e.g. Yamamoto et al. (2008)). .
