EditOur vision is to create a programme that enables scientists at all levels, regardless of location, sector or career stage, to make full use of public biodata and to share their expertise openly with others, and we work with our colleagues throughout EMBL, as well as collaborators worldwide, towards realising this vision. Visit the Training website for a full list of our activities.
Join us – virtually or in person – to learn with other scientists from around the world.
Dive straight into learning through our online tutorials and library of recorded webinars anytime, anywhere.

What do we train on?
Our training is aimed at scientists and biomedical professionals at postgraduate level and above. For many of our courses, no prior training in bioinformatics is necessary but please check the prerequisites for each course to check its suitability for you.
In addition to courses, which as part of the EMBL Course and Conference Programme are open to applications from all postgraduate researchers, EMBL-EBI has a regular programme of specialised knowledge exchange workshops for our industry partners .
We train scientists at all levels to get the most out of publicly available biological data. We familiarise our trainees with EMBL-EBI’s data resources and tools through practical exercises, demonstrations and discussions, with a major emphasis on providing hands-on experience.

Who do we train?
We provide introductory training for new users through to advanced training for bioinformaticians.
While our focus is on EMBL-EBI resources, we take care to put them in the context of other bioinformatics services by inviting guest trainers from other bioinformatics centres of excellence, and by raising awareness of the fundamental concepts underlying bioinformatics.
