Roles Classification
Biological Roles:
anticoronaviral agent  Any antiviral agent which inhibits the activity of coronaviruses.
protein synthesis inhibitor  A compound, usually an anti-bacterial agent or a toxin, which inhibits the synthesis of a protein.
plant metabolite  Any eukaryotic metabolite produced during a metabolic reaction in plants, the kingdom that include flowering plants, conifers and other gymnosperms.
antiviral agent  A substance that destroys or inhibits replication of viruses.
autophagy inhibitor  Any compound that inhibits the process of autophagy (the self-digestion of one or more components of a cell through the action of enzymes originating within the same cell).
antimalarial  A drug used in the treatment of malaria. Antimalarials are usually classified on the basis of their action against Plasmodia at different stages in their life cycle in the human.
antiprotozoal drug  Any antimicrobial drug which is used to treat or prevent protozoal infections.
metabolite  Any intermediate or product resulting from metabolism. The term 'metabolite' subsumes the classes commonly known as primary and secondary metabolites.
Applications:
antiamoebic agent  An antiparasitic agent which is effective against amoeba, a genus of single-celled amoeboids in the family Amoebidae.
expectorant  Compounds that are considered to increase the volume of secretions in the respiratory tract, so facilitating their removal by ciliary action and coughing. Compare with mucolytics, which decrease the viscosity of mucus, facilitating its removal by ciliary action and expectoration, and antitussives, which suppress the cough reflex.
antineoplastic agent  A substance that inhibits or prevents the proliferation of neoplasms.
antimalarial  A drug used in the treatment of malaria. Antimalarials are usually classified on the basis of their action against Plasmodia at different stages in their life cycle in the human.
antiprotozoal drug  Any antimicrobial drug which is used to treat or prevent protozoal infections.
antiinfective agent  A substance used in the prophylaxis or therapy of infectious diseases.
emetic  Any agent that induces nausea and vomiting.
