Data Submission Updates 2025

Starting mid January 2025, MetaboLights will introduce two new functionalities that mark a significant change in how we handle the volume and quality of submissions.

New Accessioning: MetaboLights will first issue a temporary submission request (i.e. REQxxx) instead of the traditional MetaboLights study accession number (i.e. MTBLSxxx). A full MetaboLights accession number will be assigned only once a study passes new validation - Validation Framework v2 (and status promoted to ‘In Curation’).

Validation Framework v2: The MetaboLights team has developed a more structured, stricter ruleset. Studies which pass this version of validation will not only receive the full MetaboLights accession number (e.g. MTBLSxxx) but will instantly receive a private reviewer link and be eligible to go public without MetaboLights curation.
