About the medaka project
The Idea
The Medaka fish (Oryzias latipes) is a vertebrate model system with many years of genetics and developmental biology behind it. Inspired by the success of wild inbred panels in Drosophila and Arabidopsis, we have initiated a project to characterise a wild population of Medaka and generate an inbred Medaka Genetic Reference Panel. Details of our initial analysis and progress are given on these pages.
The Collaboration
This project is a collaboration between groups in Hinxton, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg and Nagoya.
