The volumes of data deposited into and read from EMBL-EBI create very large traffic flows on the EMBL-EBI network and in the network of our upstream network partner JISC. EMBL-EBI is connected publicly to JANET via 2 x 100Gb links. EMBL-EBI routinely sees sustained outbound network traffic in excess of 60Gb/s. The network also connects the three physical data centre locations in which EMBL-EBI hardware is housed. 

Internally the Network team works closely with service teams, research groups and technical stakeholders to ensure that the network provides the bandwidth and performance needed to support the processing of data and the resilience required to keep EMBL-EBI operating even where network failures occur.
