Local masthead - search box
Notice: This documentation has been deprecatedFor new web site development and existing site improvement, please refer to the EBI Visual Framework (v1.1) documentation. All services are expected to use the new framework by February 2017. |
Example:

Problem:
For services that provide access to data, your users need to at least be able to make keyword searches of those data. They may also need some search term hints or examples, and access to any advanced search facilities you provide as part of your Service.
Solution:
The local search box markup that you find in the EBI templates is designed to cover all these needs at the same time as keeping things simple.
Usage:
For consistency across the Service web pages on the EBI website, we recommend that your local masthead features a search box. Including two or three hyperlinked example search terms may be very useful, especially for novice users. Updating these search terms based on patterns you notice in your server logs would be good, too!
We recommend that the "Advanced" link goes to "[service-name]/search", where you can provide any specialist or customised search interfaces that you need to use.
