Sequence searching

To search InterPro with one or multiple protein or DNA/RNA sequence(s), copy and paste the amino acid or nucleotide sequence(s) into the text box or upload a fasta file, select the sequence type in Advanced options if needed (protein/amino acids is the default), and click on the search button located below the text box (Figure 12). InterPro will then attempt to assign the sequence(s) to a protein family and identify any domains, repeats and sites. The Advanced options also allow you to select a particular member database or a sequence feature.

When clicking on the search button, you are redirected to the InterProScan Search Results page (Figure 13).

Figure 13 InterProScan searches pages. Once the analysis is completed, click on the JOB identifier in the first column (A) and a list of the analysed sequences will be shown. Click each sequence of interest (B) page to see the result of the analysis.

The InterProScan Search Result page shows the InterPro matches to your query sequence in graphical form (Figure 14). Next we will look at interpreting these results to understand what they mean, using a guided example.

Note that InterPro-N predictions, available for UniprotKB proteins, are not yet available for sequences submitted through the InterProScan web search
