DefinitionA racemate comprising equimolar amounts of (R)- and (S)-beflubutamid. An inhibitor of carotenoid biosynthesis, it is used for the pre- and early post-emergence control of broad-leaved weeds in a variety of cereal crops. The (−)-enantiomer has at least 1000 times higher herbicidal activity than the (+)-enantiomer.
