Examine variants with the Variant Viewer
The variant viewer (Figure 38) allows you to explore variant data for a protein. You can access the viewer by clicking on the ’Variant viewer’ tab near the top of the page in the entry view. The viewer shows variants which have been manually curated by the UniProt curation team along with variants which have been imported from other resources such as dbSNP and ClinVar. You can filter which variants are displayed based on their effects and also by the contributing source. The variants are shown in a graphical display followed by a table listing each variant along with information such as the position of the variant, the amino acid change it causes, clinical significance and the variant source. Click on a variant in the graphical display to highlight it in the table. You can also download the variant data in a range of formats using the ‘Download’ link. Click on the icons in Figure 38 below for more information about the different sections of the viewer.
