Embryo visualisation

The IMPC has an advanced system to visualise embryos in order to detect morphological abnormalities taking place during development.

Mice lines are studied in this way when homozygous mice for the knockout allele present a lethal phenotype at the pre-weaning stage (you can read more about the viability procedure in the Mouse phenotyping section of this course).

The Interactive Embryo Viewer provides a means to explore the IMPC’s embryo image data. See the figures below to see how you can access it. It is quite an incredible resource!

The Interactive Embryo Viewer can be accessed from the top menu of the homepage
Figure 27 Use the Embryo interactive images heatmap to find what genes have 2D and 3D visualizations and access the interactive Embryo Viewer. You can find the Embryo heatmap via the Embryo Development section or the Embryo Viewer section in the “Data” menu of the IMPC Homepage.
