"text": "<p>Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) [[cite:PUB00004001]][[cite:PUB00001388]] is a protein involved in DNA\nreplication by acting as a cofactor for DNA polymerase delta, the\npolymerase responsible for lagging strand DNA replication.\n\nA similar protein exists in yeast (gene POL30) [[cite:PUB00004375]] and is associated with\npolymerase III, the yeast analog of polymerase delta. In baculoviruses the\nETL protein has been shown [4] to be highly related to PCNA and is probably\nassociated with the viral encoded DNA polymerase. An homolog of PCNA is also\nfound in archebacteria.\n\nAs signatures for this family of proteins, we selected a two conserved regions\nlocated in the N-terminal section. The second one has been proposed to bind\nDNA.</p>",
