Spreadsheet Submission Guidelines
In this help page:
Overview
All functional genomics data, including sequencing and microarray-based data can be submitted to ArrayExpress by filling in a spreadsheet with information about the experiment and uploading this along with your data files through our spreadsheet submission web page. The name of the format for the spreadsheet is MAGE-TAB.
If you have both sequencing and microarray-based data please create a spreadsheet for each and submit them as separate 'experiments' even if they are related. Our processing of the two types of data is slightly different.
We still support our older spreadsheet format called Tab2MAGE and if you are already using this for your submissions you do not need to change to MAGE-TAB unless you wish to. Tab2mage does not support sequencing data.
How to create and submit your spreadsheet and data files
- Create a login account on the spreadsheet submissions web page
- Create your experiment and then spreadsheet.
Click 'Create experiment' to start a new experiment submission and enter a name for the experiment.
You can create your own spreadsheet from scratch but you may find it quicker to use a template spreadsheet generated by the submission systems (click 'Generate template'), or start with a spreadsheet from a similar experiment. Have a look at the examples here:
- Upload your spreadsheet and data files in one or more zipped archives.
Click 'Upload files' then upload your completed spreadsheet and all your data files in one or more zipped archives.
- Submit your experiment.
Click 'Submit experiment' to send this submission to us for curation.
- After completing your experiment submission:
- You'll receive a immediate confirmation email saying that your experiment has been submitted.
- We will send you an accession number when all the required information has been provided.
- We will load your experiment into ArrayExpress and provide you with a reviewer login for viewing the data before it is made public.
