Searching Pfam using a protein sequence

Searching Pfam with a protein sequence

One of the most valuable uses of IntePro is to find which entry (or entries) a sequence matches, and thus what its potential function might be. To run a search you can follow this steps, all them highlighted in Figure 8:

  1. Click on Search By Sequence in the InterPro website menu.
  2. Provide the FASTA formatted sequence(s) (protein or nucleotide) of interest by pasting them into the test box or by importing them from a fasta file. Up to 100 sequences can be submitted.
  3. Expand the Advanced options, click on Unselect all protein sequence applications, and select Pfam.
  4. Click on the Search button.
