Functional genomics

Functional genomics is the study of genes and genomes, and their function, by combining sequencing methodologies and bioinformatics analyses.

We start this collection with an introduction to functional genomics which will introduce you to different types of functional genomics studies and discuss best practices when designing your own experiments. You will also explore some examples of how functional genomics is being applied to drug discovery and plant sciences.

This online tutorial will take around one hour to complete, but you do not need to complete it all in one go. When you have finished, come back to this page to continue your progress through this collection.

Go to ‘Functional genomics I: Introduction and designing experiments’

Now you have completed this introduction to functional genomics, delve into the common technologies employed in functional genomics research, and explore relevant EMBL-EBI resources in this domain in the rest of this section.
