Investigating ARGs using EMBL-EBI resources
Having identified the ARGs in your data you may now want to investigate these genes in more depth, for example in terms of their location in the genome, their protein structure, or the biochemical reactions they are involved in.
EMBL-EBI data resources, such as Ensembl and UniProt, can be used to facilitate these types of investigations:
- Ensembl – visualise and investigate genomic regions associated with AMR
- UniProt – explore the structure and functions of proteins generated from ARGs
Over the next couple of pages you will learn about how these resources can be used in the context of AMR research, and will have the opportunity to use the resources yourself in a guided exercise at the end.
