Search by text in CATH

The ‘Search by text’ option allows you to search using a keyword or ID, such as Protein Data Bank (PDB) ID, Domain ID, Superfamily ID, or Gene Ontology (GO) ID/term. It is possible to search the CATH database using any search word. For example, the word may be of a functional origin, such as ‘chaperone,’ or structural, such as ‘helix’.

Let’s do it together to search for a CATH Superfamily using text-based search

  1. Type in the CATH superfamily name ‘Trypsin-like serine proteases’ or its superfamily ID (iCATH Code) ‘2.40.10.10’ into the search box and click on ‘Search’.
  2. Click on ‘2.40.10.10’ in the resulting page (Figure 4) to explore detailed information about the superfamily (explained in the following section).
