Search by text in CATH
The ‘Search by text’ option allows you to search using a keyword or ID, such as Protein Data Bank (PDB) ID, Domain ID, Superfamily ID, or Gene Ontology (GO) ID/term. It is possible to search the CATH database using any search word. For example, the word may be of a functional origin, such as ‘chaperone,’ or structural, such as ‘helix’.
Let’s do it together to search for a CATH Superfamily using text-based search
- Type in the CATH superfamily name ‘Trypsin-like serine proteases’ or its superfamily ID (iCATH Code) ‘2.40.10.10’ into the search box and click on ‘Search’.
- Click on ‘2.40.10.10’ in the resulting page (Figure 4) to explore detailed information about the superfamily (explained in the following section).
