Course description

This tutorial provides an introduction to using Pfam and InterPro web interfaces and content. You will learn to perform a UniProt accession search in the Pfam website and search InterPro to obtain information about a protein sequence function, domains and structural features.

Pre-requisites

Basic knowledge of biology and basic computer skills.

After completing this course, you should be able to:

• Describe what Pfam and InterPro are and how they may be useful in your research
• Perform a UniProt accession search in Pfam and interpret the information provided
• Perform a sequence search and text search using the InterPro website
• Analyse the results of a protein sequence search in InterPro
• Interpret the information on the InterPro entry and Structure entry pages
• Use Pfam and InterPro for real world datasets
