Searching and visualising data in QuickGO

Browsing and Searching

QuickGO enables users to search for gene products—such as proteins, protein complexes, and RNAs—as well as GO and ECO terms. Using the search box on the QuickGO homepage (see Figure 4), you can search by:

Viewing GO and ECO

QuickGO allows you to search for and view specific GO and ECO ontology terms, such as GO:0006925. For each term, you can access:

  • The term’s definition (see Figure 5)
  • Synonyms
  • Ancestry trees (see Figure 6)
  • Children terms
  • Annotation restrictions and guidelines

The ancestry chart helps visualise where a term fits within the ontology and shows its relationships with other terms.
