What is QuickGO?
QuickGO is a web-based tool for browsing and exploring:
- The Gene Ontology (GO)
- The Evidence and Conclusion Ontology (ECO)
- GO annotations
It provides access to annotations curated by GOA curators and other databases within the GO Consortium (see Figure 3).

What can I do with QuickGO?
- Explore Ontologies: View GO and ECO terms, along with their hierarchical trees, to understand how terms are organised within their respective ontologies.
- Access Functional Information: Retrieve details about gene products, including proteins, protein complexes, and RNA.
- Use GO Slims: Summarise the biological attributes of a proteome, compare proteomes, or determine what proportion of a proteome is involved in specific processes like apoptosis.
- Link Data with GO Annotations: Connect biological knowledge to high-throughput genomic or proteomic datasets using GO annotations.
