Accessing variant locus IDs

As previously mentioned, since the beginning of 2017, the EVA has been responsible for the issuance and maintenance of variant accessions for all non-human species. All non-human variant data submitted to the EVA are issued unique identifiers (SS IDs) and subsequently clustered together under single identifiers (RS IDs). This data is made available to our users through FTP (Figure 5) where additional releases provide updates to ongoing variation studies. More information on the EVA’s RS release can be found on our current release page: https://www.ebi.ac.uk/eva/?RS-Release.

Figure 5 The EVA FTP organised alphabetically by species. It can also be organised by assembly. Variants from dbSNP that could be mapped to an assembly are downloadable via VCF files while unmapped variants are included as text files.

Individual RS IDs can also be queried via the SNP search box available on the EVA homepage (Figure 6).
