Familiarise yourself with Jupyter Notebooks
To get the most out of this course you will need to use the Jupyter notebooks to make them fully interactive. Once you have done this you will be able to edit and run the examples, and write your own scripts for the exercises.
We have made the Jupyter notebooks available using Google Colab, where the environment for running Python and R scripts with the Ensembl REST API has been set up. Just make a copy of the notebook you want to use into your own Google Drive; you will need a (free) Google account to do this. If you prefer, and you have Jupyter already installed on your machine, you can also download the notebooks and open with Jupyter.
There are versions of the notebooks available in Python and R, so you will need to be able to program in one of these languages. If you would like to request a Jupyter notebook in another language, please let us know.
