Why was the COVID-19 Data Portal set up?

Rapid and open sharing of data greatly accelerates research and discovery, and so it is therefore essential in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understanding the abundance and expression of biological molecules can lead to understanding the biology of viruses and their hosts, which can in turn lead to development of treatments and vaccinations (Figure 2).

Biological molecules' identification and biology can lead to treatments, public health interventions and vaccines.
