User experience and getting feedback

When making data publicly available it is important to consider how the data is communicated to users and the ways in which they can access it. This often involves involving users in testing to see what is most effective.

Biocurators are often involved in the design or redesign of data resources as they are familiar with both the data and the users of the resources.

This online tutorial, which will take around 30 minutes, will introduce you to concepts in user experience testing and how they can be applied to developing a life sciences data resource.

By the end of this online tutorial you will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of user experience design (UXD)
  • Describe the benefits of conducting UXD
  • Describe different approaches to undertaking UXD
