Introduction
In the first section of this tutorial, we examine the historical and societal context of informed consent. The second section covers the steps required to obtain valid informed consent, and the third section focuses on how one might amend or extend informed consent, and the role of biobanks and the patient advocacy movement.
Each section, with videos narrated by Lucia von Bredow, Bioethics Manager/Science & Society Lead, EMBL Bioethics Services, is designed to cover a particular part of the journey, with the relevant section highlighted in yellow in the image below, which outlines the tutorial.
