Key global validation metrics

A range of metrics is used to evaluate the overall quality of macromolecular models. These metrics can broadly be grouped based on whether they assess how well the model fits the experimental data or how well it conforms to prior knowledge (fundamental chemical and physical principles or statistical properties of large groups of structure models).

Some of these global metrics are calculated by aggregating results from checks performed at a more local level (e.g., per-residue or per-atom) into overall summary statistics (like percentages or average deviations) that provide an overall picture.
