Sequence similarity search for biomolecular sequences
Sequence similarity search is a method of searching sequence databases by using alignment to a query sequence. This method can help to identify homology and function of a query sequence by finding database sequences which are significantly similar to the query sequence.
This webinar with Nandana Madhusoodanan (Helpdesk and Documentation Officer, EMBL-EBI), recorded on 09 June 2021, introduces basic concepts in sequence similarity search with a focus on the similarity search tools and databases provided by EMBL-EBI, and includes useful tips on which tools and databases to use, and explore some examples of use cases using BLAST.
