Organising data associated to a publication using BioStudies

Accessing all the data associated with any scientific research and understanding the cross-dependencies between data that may reside in different locations and formats is challenging and hence affects the reproducibility of research. To overcome this challenge the BioStudies database was established as ‘one-stop shop for all the data supporting a life sciences study’ [3].

Biostudies facilitates transparency and reproducibility of research by aggregating all the outputs of a study (a ‘data package’) in a single place. A data package may include links to parts of data deposited into specialised community databases at EMBL-EBI and elsewhere, as well as data that have no other natural home such as supplemental data.

This webinar with Ugis Sarkans (Team leader at Functional Genomics Development, EMBL-EBI), recorded on 05 May 2021, demonstrates a range of examples for data submission and access, including large image datasets.

By the end of this webinar you will be able to:

  • Explore the BioStudies database
  • Access or submit biological datasets to the BioStudies
