Maintenance of life science data by biocurators
A biocurator is a scientist who extracts, interprets, combines and archives data from a variety of sources, including literature, genomes, online materials and author provided biological data, to standardise this data and make it machine readable, more discoverable and accessible to the public.
In this webinar, recorded on 16 June 2021, a panel of biocurators – Claire O’Donovan (Team leader – Metabolomics, EMBL-EBI), Deborah Harrus (Scientific Data Curator, EMBL-EBI), Birgit Meldal (Senior Scientific Database Curator, EMBL-EBI) and Rossana Zaru (Scientific Database Curator, EMBL-EBI) – discuss the principles of how biological data is archived, curated, maintained and updated by expert biocurators and how you can contribute.
By the end of this webinar you will be able to:
- Explain how life science databases are maintained
- Discover how to submit your data in the best possible way
- Explore how to collaborate with the database teams to improve science provision
