Browse function

Selecting the browse function takes you to a hierarchical tree of Genome Properties grouped by category (Figure 4). You can search within this hierarchy using the search box above the tree (this will highlight the search term everywhere it is found in the tree), or you can navigate the tree using the drop-down arrows to find the specific Genome Property you are interested in. Selecting a property will open the entry page, allowing you to see the individual steps that comprise the property.

Each step has an associated line of evidence (a protein signature model and an InterPro accession relating to that model) which is used to determine the presence of the step within the species being queried.

Figure 4 Selecting the browse button (A) on the front page opens a tree of Genome Properties grouped by category (B). The entry page (C) contains detailed information about the property including name, accession, type, description, references, steps, evidence models, GO terms, threshold value, and links to external resources.

The threshold value is a numerical value that defines the minimum number of steps that need to be found in a species before a ‘partial’ result can be reported. These partial results can be considered as positive results. A ‘yes’ result is reported when all required steps are found.
