Automatic annotation systems in UniProt

UniProt is a high quality, comprehensive protein resource. Next to expert curation, one of the core activities at UniProt is to develop computational methods for the functional annotation of protein sequences. In this webinar we will introduce two rule-based annotation systems, UniRule and the Statistical Automatic Annotation System (SAAS), and explain how they complement each other to automatically annotate the unreviewed records in the UniProt Knowledgebase (UniProtKB/TrEMBL) with a high coverage and a high degree of accuracy. We will also give you an early peek at the formats and systems we plan to make available to enable researchers to annotate their own protein sequences.

This webinar was recorded on 8 May 2018. It is best viewed in full screen mode using Google Chrome. The slides from this webinar can be downloaded below.

This webinar is aimed at scientists and bioinformaticians with an interest in functional annotation of protein sequences.
