Segmentation with StarDist and SplineDist

Trainer: Virginie Uhlmann and Martin Weigert

Overview:  Segmentation is the process of partitioning a digital image into multiple image objects. This session goes over what segmentation is and introduces two methods: SplineDist, a machine learning framework for automated cell segmentation with spline curves, and StarDist, cell nuclei localisation via star-convex polygons.

Learning objectives:

After this session you should be able to:

  • Identify the most common segmentation methods used in bioimage analysis
  • Define which segmentation method is most fitted to for your analysis
  • Identify suitable tools for segmentation of bioimages
