Performance and impact in the context of core facilities
Trainers: Kim Tamara Gurwitz
Overview: During this session, together with the group, the trainer explored performance and impact in the context of core facilities in the following aspects:
- Introduction (stakeholders, strategies)
- Knowledge exchange – Who might be interested in the performance and impact of a core facility, and why?
- Impact pathway logic and design: thinking like an impact specialist
- Main concepts
- Hands on exercise
- Indicators and other evidence of performance and impact
- Knowledge exchange – Who has asked you impact-related questions, and what did they ask?
- Hands on exercise
- Methods employed to collect/collate evidence of performance and impact
- Your next step(s) on the impact journey
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Learn about existing strategies and approaches to demonstrate the performance and impact of a core facility
- Become familiar with the principles of the impact pathway logic and impact framework design, including through a practical exercise
- Gain an appreciation for the range of evidence of performance and impact (e.g. quantitative, qualitative) that can be produced, and how it can be collected (i.e. methods)Reflect on what evidence is already in your hands, and what you (or your core facility colleagues) can relatively easily put together based on your stakeholders’ expectations
