This session will introduce InterPro’s protein annotation database and teach programmatic access through APIs, with a focus on protein families and domains. Following an introductory lecture, attendees will engage in hands-on activities to practice retrieving these specific features using guided API queries. The session combines theoretical foundations with practical experience in automated data retrieval from InterPro.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Execute basic queries to retrieve protein family and domain information using the InterPro API.
• Customise API requests to integrate InterPro annotations into bioinformatics workflows to enhance protein annotation and functional analysis.
