Open science and FAIR data

Trainer:

Overview: EMBL aims to be a leader and innovator in open science to make scientific research accessible and transparent, and to remove barriers that may restrict the availability of research. To this end, EMBL published an Open Science Policy (https://www.embl.org/about/open-science/) to improve the societal outcomes from EMBL’s scientific programme through openness, transparency, and the open publication of results in the form of research articles, software and data. In particular, all data behind research articles are expected to be made public and to adhere to the FAIR principles, a set of guiding principles to make data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

By the end of this session you will:

  • Know the central ideas of Open Science.
  • Know about the key requirements of EMBL´s Open Science policy.
