Overview: This initial presentation introduces the principles of data visualisation and visual analytics, exploring the strengths and limitations of human visual perception. It also showcase different visualisation approaches for different data types.

- Identify the reasons why visualisation is needed
- List fundamental concepts of human perception and cognition
- List and different techniques for visualisation and principles of visual design.

Overview: In this presentation goes over conceptual frameworks for data visualisation and the selection of effective visual encodings. It also covers the visual design process and introduce methods for evaluating visualisations.
