Pre-course homework

Goal

The purpose of these challenges is to help you become familiar with the applications we will be using during the course and to get information that will be used during the course, so you can make the most of your learning time – please complete them before our first training day on Wednesday 1th December.

Pre-Course Challenge 1 – Slack

Please access the course Slack workspace (using your full name as the username) and click on the #chat channel. Message the group with the biggest challenge related to managing a core facility that you are experiencing right now.

Pre-Course Challenge 2 – Slack

Send a direct message to Maripaz. This message should be one word: ‘Virtual’.

Pre-Course Challenge 3 – Zoom

To check you can join the livestream sessions, please access the course Zoom link (CORE ) on Tuesday 30 th November at 11:30 am (Costa Rica time UTC-6). You will not need to stay online for long – we will take a quick attendance & sound check. Make sure your Zoom screen name is the name you used to register for the course (No nicknames please!).  If you are having trouble accessing the sessions, however, we will be on hand to help you work through technical issues at that time or you can consult the help sheet. Ensure you download the Zoom app as browser-based zoom use can cut off more frequently.

Pre-Course Challenge 4 – Project Management story telling

Optional: Prepare to present Project Management strategies or tools that have worked for your core facility.

We will make use of some of this information to tailor some of the course activities, so it’s important that you provide this information!
