Introduction to phylogenomics methods
Trainer: Nídia Trovão
Overview: This session will provide an introduction to phylodynamics. It will cover concepts on evolutionary biology, time-scaled phylogenetics, and phylogeographic inference towards reconstruction of the evolutionary histories and transmission dynamics of fast-evolving pathogens.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will:
- Be familiar with molecular clock models, time-scaled phylogenies, and coalescent theory which allows gaining insight into when evolutive events occurred while uncovering the population structure within a Bayesian phylodynamic framework.
- Learn about discrete and continuous phylogeographic models and their extensions to investigate the spatio-temporal patterns and transmission dynamics of pathogens.
