Webinar

Strategies for computational vaccine design: from prefusion stabilisation to epitope focussing

In this webinar, we will explore the state of the art in computational and structure-based vaccine design. Specifically, we will discuss two prominent strategies: preserving a vaccine antigen in its prefusion conformation through a few stabilising mutations, and extracting epitope information for scaffolding onto non-antigen protein backbones. We will also discuss the advantages and limitations of both approaches.

This event is part of the webinar series “Integrating structural biology and bioinformatics to study infection”. You can follow the link for more information about the series and its webinars.

Who is this course for?

No background in computational protein design is required. However, a basic understanding of vaccine antigens and familiarity with viral glycoproteins will be helpful.

Outcomes

By the end of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Describe key approaches to computational and structure-based vaccine design
  • Compare the advantages, limitations and potential applications of these approaches in vaccine development
