Primer for predocs 2025
This course is aimed to provide an orientation for new predocs to EMBL-EBI. Databases and services will be introduced, along with other useful information for starting out at EMBL-EBI.
Who is this course for?
Newly arrived EMBL-EBI predocs and Sanger Institute PhD students who require an introduction to the database resources and bioinformatics services offered by EMBL-EBI.
What will I learn?
Learning outcomes
After the course you will be able to:
- Provide an overview of the data and tools available through EMBL-EBI services
- Describe the basic concept of EMBL-EBI web services
- Identify helpful approaches and tools for good data management
- Use basic commands for interacting with the EBI cluster and find helpful documentation
- Explain work and life at EMBL-EBI

Provide a Microsoft Word (.docx) document containing a visualisation that you have created recently and would like to improve after you have attended the course. If you haven't created a visualisation yet, please attach an example visualisation similar to what you expect to produce and improve.
