Webinar
Advanced search and protein analysis tools in UniProt
UniProt is the most widely used protein resource in the world, providing the scientific community with a freely accessible collection of protein sequences and functional information. In this webinar, we will explain how to perform sophisticated searches for proteins of interest using our advanced search. We will also demonstrate how to access and run sequence analysis tools such as BLAST and multiple sequence alignments, how to navigate the results, and how protein annotation can be used to further the results analysis.
This event is part of the broader "UniProt 2026-2027" series. You can follow the link for more information about the series and its webinars.
Who is this course for?
This webinar is aimed at scientists at any career stage interested in using UniProt, and at UniProt users wishing to advance their knowledge of the database and website. An undergraduate-level understanding of biology would be useful.
Outcomes
By the end of the webinar, you will be able to:
- Perform BLAST searches, multiple sequence alignments, and peptide searches, and retrieve and analyse the results
- Understand how databases organise data and knowledge using identifiers (IDs), ontologies, and controlled vocabularies
- Use advanced search to query UniProt and retrieve specific, relevant results
- Use the ID mapping tool to map between database identifiers
This webinar, hosted on Zoom Webinar, is free to attend, but you need to register for a place beforehand, using the 'Register' button. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the webinar.
The webinar will be recorded, and the recording will be made available on this page one day after the event. Please note that we do not issue certificates of attendance for our webinars. However, you will receive an email from our Zoom account confirming your participation a day after the event
