The GWAS Catalog is a manually curated summary resource of human genotype-phenotype associations from GWAS publications. The Catalog contains a vast amount of data, encompassing over 38,000 SNP-trait associations from more than 2,800 publications as of May 2017. This data is used by a growing community of biologists and bioinformaticians to identify causal variants, understand disease mechanisms and establish targets for treatment.
This webinar will provide a background to genome-wide association study design and will introduce users to the GWAS Catalog. Topics such as Catalog content, data availability and access, search capability, and interoperability with other resources will be discussed.
This webinar took place on 28th June 2017. You can watch a recording of the webinar and download the slides in Train online.
This course is aimed at individuals who wish to learn more about the GWAS catalog. No prior knowledge of bioinformatics is required, but an undergraduate level understanding of biology would be useful.
