Course Overview
This workshop will introduce open-source tools for creating, representing and analysing biological networks. Practical sessions will use Cytoscape and PSICQUIC to access protein interaction databases and integrate the data. Further instruction will be given on analysing networks and enriching them with GO terms.
Audience
The course is aimed to biologists and computer scientists wanting to learn the basics of network analysis. Basic knowledge of interaction data resources and techniques is recommended, no previous experience with Cytoscape or PSICQUIC is required.
Learning outcomes
After this course you should be able to:
- Comprehend the basic principles of network analysis
- Use the PSICQUIC client to integrate public molecular interaction data
- Analyse and represent networks using Cytoscape
- Integrate external data
- Apply attribute-based filters
- Use plugins for clustering and GO enrichment
