OraCIF COMPARER is currently
under development and is designed specifically for facilitating the exchange of
macromolecular structural data between the EBI and the RCSB. The Comparer
compares the contents of
an mmCIF or XML document with the source database(s).
Provided with a mmCIF
or XML document containing information on a given PDB accession code the Comparer
will analyse the differences between this document and the information in the
source database pertaining to this same accession code.
This function is
important for synchronising the cleanup of the PDB being undertaken at the EBI
and the RCSB.
INPUT
The Comparer requires
only mmCIF or XML document containing structural data corresponding to a single
PDB entry. The set of categories and items to be compared can be controlled by
setting flags in the mapping metadatabase.
PROCESS
The mmCIF or XML
document presented for comparison is first loaded into temporary set of tables.
The equivalent data from source database(s) is then extracted into a second
temporary set of table using the Exporter. Then the differences between theses two set of temporary tables
are analysed.
Currently, the analysis
is done only category by category and does not evaluate the relationship between
categories.
OUTPUT
COMPARER provides item
by item diagnostics on the differences between the mmCIF or XML input and the
source database(s).
