'Tis the season for the new PDBe calendar! Our calendar for 2020 is now available to view and print - just in time for the New Year.

Cyrus Chothia

27 Nov 2019

In memoriam, Cyrus Chothia (1942-2019)

We noted with great sadness the passing of Cyrus Chothia. Cyrus has been a giant in understanding protein structures, their function and evolution over many years. In the early days with very few structures to work with, Cyrus and Arthur Lesk highlighted the amazing conservation and evolution of the Haemoglobin family, recognising the dependence of structural similarity to sequence divergence.

Molstar viewer new release at PDBe

20 Nov 2019

Introducing Mol*: fast, interactive 3D visualisation in your browser at RCSB PDB and PDBe

Access Mol*, a new 3D molecular viewer developed in collaboration between RCSB PDB, PDBe, and CEITEC, from RCSB PDB and PDBe pages. This new viewer allows fast visualisation of molecular structures and their corresponding data, along with high quality rendering within the browser window.

New PDBe publication in Nucleic Acids Research

14 Nov 2019

Updated PDBe tools and pages described in new publication

The recent updates and improvements to the PDBe website and tools have been reported in a new publication in Nucleic Acids Research. This publication focuses on improvements to the search and visualisation tools at PDBe, and also summarises our outreach and training activities.

PDBe-KB news - conservation added to protein pages

07 Nov 2019

Conservation and variation in PDBe-KB protein pages

The PDBe-KB aggregated views of proteins ( now have even more information, including sequence conservation, CATHb domains and UniProt variation data, along with faster loading times.

wwPDB news release - improved EM validation

05 Nov 2019

Additional EM map validation now available through OneDep

The wwPDB validation reports provided in the OneDep system now have additional validation for electron microscopy (EM) maps to help users identify potential discrepancies in their data.

Uniprot entry links to PDBe-KB protein pages

21 Oct 2019

Linking UniProtKB proteins to structures via PDBe-KB

The PDBe and Protein Function teams at EMBL-EBI are pleased to announce that UniProtKB entry pages now have direct links to PDBe-KB’s aggregated views for proteins.

New Protein Data Bank in Europe - Knowledge Base (PDBe-KB) publication available

11 Oct 2019

New publication describing the PDBe-KB resource

A new publication, describing the community-driven PDBe-KB resource, is now available in Nucleic Acids Research.

wwPDB news - PDB DOI links to wwPDB entry pages

09 Oct 2019

PDB DOIs now directed to wwPDB entry pages

The wwPDB partners are pleased to announce an improved mechanism for the resolution of digital object identifiers (DOIs) associated with released PDB entries. We have launched new wwPDB landing web-pages for each released PDB entry.

Experimental raw data available for all PDB techniques

12 Aug 2019

Links added to raw experimental data at PDBe

The model file in the PDB is the culmination of much hard work and interpretation of raw experimental data. The OneDep deposition system enables depositors to provide the location of raw datasets as a 'digital object identifier' (doi), within their mmCIF file in the PDB archive and this DOI is now directly linked from an entry page at PDBe.
