This happens, however, according to the reports, not frequently.
Don't feel confused or desperate. Simply have a look at list below
in order to see if your problem is there. Hopefully, you will find
explanation and suggestions on making around the difficulty. If
you have encountered something new, please help other SSM users

- SSM says it cannot recognize mmCIF item
in my file although it is PDB that I am trying tp upload!.
- None from the above.

- Take a closer look at first line of your file. In a valid PDB file,
it should start with keyword HEADER. We understand that your
software may generate incomplete, PDB-like, files, which miss many
records in the annotation section. Therefore SSM's parser
will identify your input as a PDB file if its first line contains
any of the valid PDB keywords. If a PDB record is
not recognizable, SSM's parser switches to mmCIF, and if first
word in the file is not _data, an
mmCIF error is reported.
If you are sure that first line in your file starts with a
valid PDB keyword and SSM still issues you with an mmCIF error,
please report this as a bug.
