The plankton sample was recovered from the water column in the Central Basin of the Marmara Sea (40° 50.3'N 28°1.4' E) at 1000m depth.  The sediment sample was recovered from the Central Basin of the Marmara Sea at 1,300 m depth (40° 46.8'N and 29°6.1' E).
